HEY, I'M EVÓRA!
Rockhouse Hotel, Negril, Jamaica
IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT ROCKHOUSE HOTEL IN NEGRIL, LOOK NO FURTHER. BELOW, YOU CAN READ MY EXPERIENCE OF HAVING OUR WEDDING THERE, AND ALSO SEE PHOTOS FROM IT.
I’ll start off by saying that I, myself, am a destination wedding photographer, and travel the world to many exotic, beautiful locations with clients. I’ve been to many beaches, islands and cultural places and countries and witnessed several resorts in my career. I can now say I have a ‘favorite’. NO review could do the Rockhouse justice. You must see it for yourself to understand. Period.
If the Rockhouse can blow a professional photographer’s mind with its beauty, culture and charm, it can impress the most picky travelers tastes indeed.
I’ve been stalking this place after seeing it in numerous wedding and travel magazines …dreaming one day I would get married there. While in a work trip, my fiancé proposed to me in Montego Bay this past February, and when we started looking for destination venues for our wedding, we immediately thought of the Rockhouse. We booked a trip to see the resort and spend my birthday there and meet with Inise, the wedding coordinator.
From the moment our excited feet touched the property, we were blown away. I literally was so mesmerized with their mouth-dropping views, that I even forgot to pick my camera up. The pool was under construction when we were there, and we received 20% off for that. We didn’t even care though, because even if they didn’t have a pool, the reviews on here would still be amazing. You have limitless cliffs and 30′ crystal clear water to dive into. We had booked a Studio room, and it was more than perfect. Even had a wrap around balcony with full ocean view. #28! While enjoying a beer at the Rockhouse Restaurant bar, Charlotte the hotel manager, approached us and called us by name. She offered us a complimentary upgrade into a premium villa due to the construction by the pool. We gladly accepted, and 10 mins later, the bellhop was at our old room to move our luggage! We stayed in #3, which had an amazing UNOBSTRUCTED view of the ocean from our bed. The hexagon-shaped villa had three side of nothing but glass doors. A private balcony with sunning chairs, stepladder to the water, and personal coves for each villa was mind-blowing. I seriously stared at the water in disbelief for awhile, bc I had never seen water so impeccable in my life. We got to tour all the rooms with Inise to see them and take photos to show our wedding guests so they could book rooms and have info to go off of. They were all amazing! The outdoor showers were a great touch! AND THE HOMEMADE SOAP…. Holy ______. Special thanks to our housekeeper who left us 4 bars after we told her we were obsessed with it 🙂 Beds are comfortable, and the no tv thing was great. You don’t need a tv while staying here. Internet in both rooms we had was as expected and worked well.
My fiancé and I are avid foodies, and the food during our entire stay was amazing. And I’m pretty picky with food. I highly recommend the eggs Benedict for breakfast, the COFFEE, and the Old Time Synting from the Rockhouse Restaurant for dinner. That dish blew us away. If you can, enjoy a nice quiet breakfast on your room’s private porch via room service, overlooking the water. Make a reservation to get the private table on the cliff overhang at the Rockhouse Restaurant for dinner if you can, with the bartender. The snapper sandwich and salad was super tasty at Pushcart too! We got to know the whole service staff on property and never were we disappointed. At all. They all emit such happy positive vibes, and are so proud to work there, as we were told the hiring process is extremely competitive and rigid. It shows. Make sure to take cash to tip with. The service was probably one of our favorite things from the whole stay. Many thanks to Inise, Lici, Leo, and Charlotte!!
Cheap taxi ride to 7mile beach and Ricks Cafe, and walkable to shops, liquor store and restaurants. Walk to 3 Dives for an excellent lobster dinner ($30 for 2 lobsters and all the fixings, enough for 2ppl). The rum punch made the walk back to the resort fun 🙂 There is plenty to enjoy closeby to the Rockhouse….if you even want to leave for anything. The rooms even have ‘goodie bags’ in them with helpful nice items, such as an underwater disposable camera, candles, rum cakes, lighter, sarong (loved this!!!!) and even wrapping papers, for those that need them.
The WATER: best I’ve ever seen in all my travels. You can get snorkel equipment at Pushcart. If you like blue clear water, then you will spend 90% of your time in there. Make sure to jump off a cliff or 10, and swim into the rock grotto to climb back out. Amazing and romantic. The water is pretty much deep enough not to touch. Admire the sea urchins, flounder, and numerous fish species when you take a plunge. Swim into the sun-lit cave under Pushcart restaurant. JUMP OFF THE BRIDGE, even if it requires a shot of rum in order to do so. The water looks shallow as ever for the 20′ jump, but I reassure you it’s about 15′ deep and you won’t hit the bottom.
So if you probably couldn’t already guess, we booked our wedding there. We are so excited to see our new fiends and ‘family’ at the Rockhouse for our wedding in June! We were so impressed with the property that we had zero reservations to trusting the staff with the biggest day in our lives.
If you appreciate life through visuals and amazing service and culture, then this is THE hotel for you.

Our whimsical and tropical cliff-side wedding at the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica, photographed by Table4 Weddings.
Being a destination wedding photographer, I have been blessed with the experiences of shooting weddings all over the world. I knew that when the day came for me to get married, it would be a hard choice to pick a venue and location. I’ve always been attracted to clear, turquoise water and warm sunny skies. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I get the chance to photograph in this environment.
When Clinton proposed to me, it was near the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica. I was there shooting a destination wedding at the Sandals Montego Bay, and we extended our trip to enjoy the area a couple of days after my work was complete. He popped the question, we looked at each other, and immediately knew that Jamaica was where our hearts were and wanted to get married at. I had been researching the Rockhouse Hotel for years — seeing it in magazines, on the Travel Channel, and through word of mouth — and decided to look into it for our wedding. My dream was to have a Rockhouse Hotel wedding, and bring our closest family and friends to this cliffside resort to witness our vows to each other. Our dream became a reality on June 20, 2015.
The whole planning experience and making our vision come to life was amazing. With the help of Inise, the wedding coordinator at the Rockhouse, and many vendors from far and wide, we were able to make our dream union come true. Being a wedding photographer myself, the question of ‘who will shoot your wedding?’ was never more popular! I knew I wanted a photographer that had destination wedding photography experience (so important!), so it was actually pretty easy 🙂 Thank you Jason with Table4 Weddings for you and your wife’s amazing talent in capturing our wedding! I will always be grateful for all the vendors that came to perfect our day! (See bottom of post for all vendor credits)
