HEY, I'M EVÓRA!
Rome, Italy near Piazza di Spagna
When in Rome… You have to check this hotel out. If you don’t stay here, then definitely grab a drink at their rooftop bar.
I always have one ‘splurge hotel’ per trip, and the Portrait Roma was that on my first trip to Italy. To read about that entire trip, click HERE.
On my first trip to Italy, I took my Mom as my travel buddy. We were flying direct from Dallas to Rome, and I wanted our first hotel to be a comfy one so we could get some much needed rest — and in a good area. It was also her birthday surprise, so I wanted it to be a special place.
After extensive research, I found the Portrait Roma, which is part of the Lungarno Collection of hotels. It’s world renowned for being of utmost luxury, and catering to the most specific of tastes. After booking online through their website, they quickly sent me a preference list to fill out via email. On this list were very specific preferences, such as:
- Room temperature likings
- Favorite pillow fills, and amount of pillows
- Any food restrictions were very strictly noted (another reason I booked the Portrait Roma, as my mother is lethally allergic to many things and they created a menu just for her. That is the service expected when you book a luxury hotel!
Some notable things about the Portrait Roma:
Location: Right next to the Spanish Steps! Couldn’t be more perfect. Excellent placement around shopping and restaurants, all very easily walkable.
Rooms: WOW. All I can say is the attention to detail at this hotel is phenomenal. Upon entering our room at checkin, I noticed they even put a photo of me and mom off my Facebook and onto the iPad that controlled the room (found on Facebook). Super cool touch in my opinion!
Best Part of the Hotel: THE ROOFTOP. I can honestly say the rooftop at the Portrait Roma may be the best in town. You can see the Spanish Steps perfectly, see down the gorgeous colorful streets, and hear the street music romantically filling the air in the evenings.
Breakfast Brunch: Included with your stay, and hands down the best European breakfast I have had to date in the 4 times I have been to Europe. Meats, high end cheeses, homemade pastries and breads with savory and sweet jams, AND burrata! Oh my gosh, my favorite! And they make it on property.
